It's America!

Drivin' down the street today
I saw a sign for lemonade
They were the cutest kids
I'd ever seen in this front yard
As they handed me my glass
Smiled and thinkin' to myself
Man what a picture perfect postcard this would make of America

It's a man on the moon
And fireflies in June
And kids sellin' lemonade
It's cities and farms
It's open arms
One nation under God
It's America

Cause it's a kid with a chance
It's a rock and roll band
It's a farmer cuttin' hay
It's a big flag flyin' in the summer wind
Over a fallen hero's grave.
It's America

A Summer Wedding At Bentley Farm

With much excitement and joy, Rebecca and I are pleased to announce that our beautiful older sister, Sarah Elizabeth, will be wedded to the handsome Adam Michael on July 10th! We could not be happier for both of them and for the life they will share together in the future.

Work Work Work All Day Long

Luke has been such a hard worker this week in beginning the major project of staining the house...

...even if the sun is beating down on his back!

And sometimes he can convince his sisters to come outside and help...

...because working together is so much more enjoyable.

The finished product.

Watching the Clouds Go By

The fast-paced life of a college student has come to a halt! This past Friday, Luke and I arrived home from Ithaca for the summer. Our lives are now filled with planting gardens, preparing the house to be stained, watching little league games, and enjoying all being together.

Farmer's Daughters (and Son)

We always love when Mom's siblings are able come to Bentley Farm. This weekend, we had the pleasure of having both her sister, Joanne, brother, Jeff, and wife for a visit.

All is At Rest

At Home on the Range

Yankees vs. Twins, 8-4

It was an exciting game, with A-Rod hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the 7th! It's beginning to feel a lot like summer!

A Reason to Celebrate

Mother's Day 2010 on Bentley Farm was full of warm memories on a rather unseasonal chilly day. The entire family was reunited for the first time since Christmastime! We all really enjoyed each other's company throughout the day--at a diner for breakfast, followed by church across the river, and a relaxing afternoon at the farm. In the words of Adam, visiting from Kansas: "You guys really know how to make the most of time!" But the main reason today was a special day is because we all really, really appreciate Mom who made today possible for each of us. In the scale of national holidays, Mother's Day rates for me up near the top with Thanksgiving. Mom is so selfless, giving, thoughtful, and loving. A mother's love--that's something to celebrate!
