Annual Pilgrimage

Two Angell Family contingents trekked to D.C. for the March for Life. Dad, Luke, Hannah, Jacob, Rebecca and Caleb traveled with family friends down to D.C. leaving at 12 am on Jan. 23 and returning at 11pm.

Meanwhile Nate organized a bus to leave from Princeton. About 30 students stood behind the 'Princeton University For Life' banner.

How do I Know His Counsel?

From Jim Elliot, missionary and martyr (1956) in Ecuador:

"My going to Ecuador is God's counsel.... And how do I know it is His counsel? 'Yea, my heart instructeth me in the night seasons.' Oh, how good! For I have known my heart is speaking to me for God!...No visions, no voices, but the counsel of a heart which desires God."

Congratulations to Benjamin!

(Nathaniel and Benjamin, 1988)

It looks like our cousin Benjamin will be joining Nathaniel at Princeton for the class of '10! Nate was already cheering for him 17 years ago!

We offer him all our congratulations for his truly hard work!

Mom and Rebecca Return from Minneapolis

Rebecca was so happy to see Uncle Mark again. Notice the John Deere "Country Girl" sweatshirt. (John Summers might have to write a new song for Becca, "Thank God, I'm a Country Girl!")

Uncle Scott shared with Grandpa the love that we all have for him. The elders from Bethlehem Baptist came to pray with the family for Grandpa. According to Mom, it was a very special time.

Cousin Amelia and her daddy, Uncle Michael.

Rebecca and Mom went to Minnesota. Scott was visiting from Azerbaijan. Mom went with a special mission to pray with her family for Grandpa who is ailing from Parkinson's Disease.

Nate Leaves Us

After a wonderful Christmas reunion of the ten Angell members, Nathaniel left us to return to Princeton for his finals. He went equipped with an orange and black 'Princetonian' bike, compliments of our family friend, Trip Sinnott. He goes back with about two weeks to study for his finals. He said it isn't enough time.

Slick Sledding

Nate took to the Bentley Slopes this weekend. The snow is hard and packed and very slick. Nate just loved the thrill.

A Prayer

A prayer to guard against two easy and common errors:

God, teach us to live in light of the reality of who You really are, not in the imagination of who we create You to be. And, God, teach us to live in Your will for our lives, not in the imagination of what we would like to create Your will to be.

New Year's and Florida

Emily, Lorna and I on the beach in Jacksonville, Florida. The Cobbs live on the Jacksonville Navy Base, which happens to be right on the ocean!

Here we are walking back from the beach to the Cobb's home. I couldn't get over the palm trees. I kept thinking that they must be fake. (It was also funny to see air-balloon snow men on the homes of grassy lawns!)

Emily Naglieri and I went to visit a long-time friend, Lorna Cobb, and her family in Florida for New Year's. It was wonderful to be together again. The Cobb's have ten children - nine of whom are girls! It was fun to be with another large family. It gave me a little idea of what it must be like to visit my family. The weather was beautiful while we were in Florida. We didn't go swimming, but we did walk through the ocean water with bare feet. Lovely.

Surgeries Yet Smiles

(Isaac and Mom console each other during the pre-Christmas surgery week and still manage to smile.)

Isaac and Mom both had surgeries right before the Christmas holiday. Isaac's surgery (tonsil removal) was especially difficult because he couldn't talk for a week! Thankfully Isaac and Mom are both recovering well and Isaac can once again talk.
