Rebecca plays for the Upton Lake Eagles varsity soccer team and she thoroughly enjoys playing defense for them. We always enjoy watching Rebecca play from the sidelines. Go Eagles!

This weekend I worked as a cashier at our long time neighbor and friend Clarence's barn sale. It was a great experience and the sale was very successful.

The Colossal Fall of a Storied Shaggy Bark Hickory

In this season of heavy rain, wet leaves and windy afternoons, a stalwart of the Angell homestead has fallen. Ever since I can remember (and for years before), the said hickory tree graced and shaded the back lawn. We strung countless loads of laundry from the deck to the tree to dry--and years ago Isaac and I hung a rope swing to replace the one my father had installed for us kids. The joys of a swing overlooking the pond, pushing someone you love or some cute little kid are unfortunately over. Even though all good things (trees) come to an end, sometimes another door or (in this case, view) is opened! May our dear hickory tree rest in peace, and provide much warmth this winter.
